Alex Barrett - Director/Editor/Cinematographer
Alex Barrett is an award-winning independent filmmaker based in London. His work as director includes the feature films LIFE JUST IS (2012, also writer) and LONDON SYMPHONY (2017, also editor), both of which were nominated for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, before being released theatrically and on DVD/VOD in the UK. LONDON SYMPHONY was also released internationally on Blu-ray and VOD. The critically acclaimed, 100% Fresh film was featured in Mark Kermode's BBC roundup of the best films of 2017, and was selected by Little White Lies as one of the '100 Greatest British Films'.

Alex's work as editor includes the award-winning feature-length documentary THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF CHRISTOPHER LEE (2024), which premiered at FrightFest 2024 before launching on Sky Arts, and two episodes of the series REEL BRITANNIA (2022). The latter spent over four months as BritBox's most-watched factual show and was nominated for Best Specialist Factual Programme at the Digital Broadcast Awards 2023.

As writer, Alex's credits include the feature documentary LEAVING JESUS (2024), which premiered at the Gothenburg Film Festival, the experimental video piece TWO MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT (2021), which premiered at CPH:DOX, and the multiple award-winning Bulgarian feature film JANUARY (2021), which premiered at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, before receiving a theatrical release in the UK in Jan 2023.

Alex's work has screened at festivals around the world, and his short films have also enjoyed non-festival screenings at venues including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington. www.alexbarrett.net
